Federal Way, Washington - December 17, 2025 - Seattle-area and former high school teacher Ron Podmore accepts an offer from his migrant students to journey to the Central American countries of Honduras and Guatemala. Only what he experiences isn't what he was expecting. It's much better. Travel with purpose and experience the best of Central America. Life begins outside your comfort zone.
Over the past ten years, Ron (hearing-impaired teacher, he formally taught American Sign Language as a 'foreign language' to his hearing high school students) has travelled to the Central American countries of Guatemala, Honduras and El Salvador. Listening to his high school migrant students share stories of their homeland, he realized there was a very significant narrative missing on the American, nightly news cycle. With a borrowed camera in hand from his high school audio-visual department, Ron set out to capture the best of these three countries and started posting them on Youtube for his non-migrant students to see the beauty of Central America. With each passing episode, Ron's headcount grew, doubling at times. Launching an informational website four years ago (RonPodmore.com) that portrayed Central America favorably, his views hit over one million, which coincidentially was right at the "getting to the root of immigration causes' initiative launched by the Biden/Harris administration in 2021.
Today, Ron is expanding yet again, with four hour-long travel documentaries in the work that reflect another, better side to these Central American countries. Amazon Prime Video (ironically based in Seattle) proudly presents "Ron Podmore's The Best of Central America: Caribbean Interior of Honduras and Guatemala" a heartwarming and eye-opening travel documentary featuring Ron and produced with 100% locally sourced, Honduran talent. This transformative journey, inspired by his connections with migrant students, takes viewers beyond the typical stereotypes associated with the nightly news cycle.
Why consider a story? In an era of pivoting away from the Far East, there is considerable discussion to establish manufacturing that helps reduce migration to the USA and establish new enterprises in Central America. In an era of radically changing climate change, vacations closer to home appeal to many American-based tourists with an exceptional exchange rate. Ron provides authentic, non AI-generated storytelling. Discover the Caribbean Interior of Honduras and Guatemala. Find out once and for all, what exactly dismantled the city-states of the Mayan empire according to Ron's insightful research and wisdom. Witness how stepping outside one's comfort zone can reap dividends in understanding how our world remains interconnected.
Whether you're an avid traveller, an educator or simply looking for travel inspiration, Ron's "The Best of Central America" series will leave you with a renewed appreciation for the world's hidden gems so close to the United States. More so, the relationships one encounters, will enrich your lives.
