Following the announced closure of wsup.ai, WSUP AI has launched an independent browser-based alternative for character conversations, combining story context, voice replies, generated images, response regeneration, motion previews, and AI-assisted character creation.
-- WSUP AI today announced the launch of a browser-based AI character chat platform created for interactive stories, roleplay, companionship, fandom, and casual conversation. The platform provides an independent replacement for the core character chat experience previously available through wsup.ai.
The launch follows a May 2026 announcement that wsup.ai would wind down its service. The announced schedule kept character chats available through May 24, followed by read-only access from May 25 through June 18 and closure on June 19.
WSUP AI is independently operated and is not affiliated with the former wsup.ai service or its owners. Accounts, purchases, characters, and conversation histories from the former platform have not transferred to WSUP AI.
Visitors can choose a character, receive its opening message, and reply without creating an account for the first conversation. Placing an active character chat on the home page removes the blank-prompt and mandatory-registration steps that can delay the first interaction.
Each character is defined by a personality, backstory, opening scene, and conversational tone. Context-aware dialogue and conversation memory help scenes remain coherent as they develop. Users can regenerate the latest character response, including the opening message, without discarding the conversation or starting again.
The experience combines text, audio, images, and motion within the same character chat. Individual responses can be played in a character-specific voice with pause, resume, and replay controls. When a conversation calls for a visual, the character can generate an image while maintaining an accompanying in-character response. Selected characters also use short, silent motion portraits that provide a visual preview before a conversation begins.

WSUP AI also includes an AI-assisted workflow to create an AI character. Creators can generate or edit a description, backstory, opening message, and portrait, then decide whether the character will be public or private. Original characters and clearly labeled Fan / Unofficial characters can be discovered through themes including Anime, Companion, K-Wave, Modern, Roleplay.
Accounts remain optional for the initial conversation. Signing in allows people to retain chat history and created characters while receiving higher image and audio limits.
The launch gives former wsup.ai users and people looking to talk to AI characters online a new browser destination for roleplay and interactive storytelling. Rather than representing itself as a continuation of the former company, WSUP AI focuses on replacing its central user experience: choosing a distinct character and beginning a conversation without delay.
