The Flood Law Firm Helps Collect Thousands of Pounds of Food for Middlesex County Pantries

A countywide "Flood the Food Banks" initiative collected an estimated 2,500–3,000 pounds of food to support 13 food pantries and food banks serving Middlesex County communities.

MIDDLESEX COUNTY, CT, August 26, 2026 /24-7PressRelease/ -- A community-wide effort to help address food insecurity across Middlesex County brought residents, volunteers, and local organizations together on August 5 for "Flood the Food Banks," a countywide food drive benefiting local food pantries.

The initiative was organized in partnership with Middlesex United Way as part of the organization's Middlesex Pantry Project, an ongoing effort to strengthen local food pantries and help ensure individuals and families have access to nutritious food throughout the year.

The one-day effort generated an estimated 2,500 to 3,000 pounds of food. Contributions were distributed among 13 food pantries and food banks throughout Middlesex County, including two smaller direct drop-offs to local pantries.

Residents donated a variety of non-perishable staples commonly requested by food pantries, including canned vegetables, soup, pasta, rice, peanut butter, cereal, shelf-stable milk, canned tuna and chicken, macaroni and cheese, and other essential food items. Collection efforts took place at participating grocery stores and community locations throughout the county.

The Flood Law Firm served as the presenting partner for the initiative, helping raise awareness of the food drive and encouraging community members throughout Middlesex County to participate. The effort also gave members of the firm an opportunity to volunteer, interact with local residents, and contribute directly to organizations working to combat food insecurity.

The importance of year-round food donations was a central focus of the initiative. While charitable giving often increases during the holiday season, local food pantries continue to serve families and individuals who need assistance throughout the year. By coordinating donations across the county, the August 5 event helped provide local organizations with additional resources to support their communities.
