PAX and Wink Enable Enterprise Merchants to Design Their Own Biometric Enrollment and Checkout

PR Newswire

Wink face and palm checkout is now integrated into PAX PxRetailer and PxDesigner. It's fully customizable and ready today on every camera-enabled PAX device.

PLANO, Texas and JACKSONVILLE, Fla., Oct. 15, 2026 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- PAX Technology, Inc., one of the world's largest payment terminal providers, and Wink, the multimodal biometric identity and payments platform, today announced a deeper integration of Wink biometric checkout into PAX PxRetailer, the application designed for enterprise and multilane environments, and PxDesigner, the customization and design tool for retailers and solution providers to customize what appears on the payment device and how the customer interacts with it. Enterprise brands in quick service, hospitality, retail, and entertainment can now design every screen of face and palm checkout, from first enrollment to final confirmation, and deploy it on every camera-enabled PAX device, including the revolutionary PCI 7 Retail PIN pads, A360 and A380, through PAX, with no separate biometrics integration to build.

PAX & Wink biometric checkout

Most in-store payments are anonymous. A card is tapped, a sale is made, and the customer walks out a stranger. Biometrics can change that, but enterprise brands have had to choose between a vendor's off-the-shelf screens at the most visible moment of the visit and a custom integration project for every lane type. With Wink fully integrated and available in PxRetailer and PxDesigner, the brand designs the experience, and PAX delivers it to the devices already at the counter.

"Today, the merchant sells to a card, not a customer," said Matt Marino, President, WinkPay, "With Wink, the anonymous cardholder becomes a known customer, with no card, phone, app or manual data entry needed at the counter. Merchants get faster lanes and greater loyalty. Customers receive a faster, more personalized experience. They're known by who they are, not just the cards in their wallet."

Designed by the brand. Down to the last screen.

Enterprise brands don't have to live with pre-designed off the shelf experiences. Their teams now design enrollment, recognition and confirmation in the same PAX tools they already use. Their logo, colors, prompts, offers and rules carry through every step, and they can go from design to live in a matter of weeks.

Brands also decide where recognition sits in the flow and which modality fits each lane: face at self-checkout, palm at the counter. And every screen can do more than take payment. And they can build new VIP, check-in and lane busting experiences that take advantage of the power of biometrics.

"Our enterprise customers expect to control every screen of their customer engagement and they don't want to take on another integration to get biometrics," said Rob Orolfo, Senior Vice President North America Enterprise Sales at PAX Technology, Inc. "With Wink integrated into our PxStudio platform, biometric enrollment and checkout come integrated through PAX, on hardware they already trust. The payment terminal is already the one device every customer touches. Now it can recognize the customer, so loyalty applies without an app, and a returning customer's preferences are ready before they reach the counter."

One enrollment, every location

A customer enrolls once, through the merchant's website or app, and can then be recognized on any camera-enabled PAX devices across the merchant's locations. Checkins or Checkout takes a glance or a raised palm. Real-time liveness detection confirms a real, present person, rather than a photo or mask. And transactions still run through the merchant's existing payment application and acquirer, so nothing changes downstream.

Made for every enterprise floor

  • Quick service. A regular's usual order is ready to confirm the moment they step up. Counter and drive-thru lines keep moving.
  • Hospitality. A guest enrolls online. They check-in, pay at the bar, restaurant, and spa with a glance. No card or room key to hand over.
  • Retail. Loyalty members are recognized at every lane. Rewards and offers apply before the total.
  • Entertainment and venues. Season-ticket holders are recognized at concessions and club entrances. Age-verified guests skip the ID check at the bar.

Ready on every camera-enabled PAX device

Wink is ready today on every PAX device with a camera. That's 110 million devices in 120 countries, including the A920Pro and the new PAX A360, an enterprise-grade Android PIN pad with Android 14, PCI PTS 7 certification, and a 6-inch customer-facing display.

Privacy, built in

Enrollment is opt-in, and the customer sees one brand: the merchant's. Wink stores biometric templates as encrypted tokens, never alongside card data. The platform runs on PCI DSS Level 1 and SOC 2 compliant infrastructure with NIST top-ranking algorithms.
