Metro Diner Joins Forces with National Pediatric Cancer Foundation to Help Fund Critical Childhood Cancer Research

Guests can round up their checks or donate to support lifesaving research during September's Childhood Cancer Awareness Month

TAMPA, Fla., Sept. 2, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of Childhood Cancer Awareness Month this September, Metro Diner is once again partnering with the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation® (NPCF) to raise vital funds for life-saving pediatric cancer research. Throughout the month, guests at all Metro Diner locations can join the fight against childhood cancer by rounding up their checks to the nearest dollar, adding $1, $3, $5 to their bill, or donating a custom amount in-diner or online — with 100% of every dollar raised going directly to NPCF.

The NPCF's mission is to fast-track less toxic, more targeted treatments for children battling cancer. With a unique collaborative network of 40 leading children's oncology research hospitals across the U.S., NPCF has already funded nearly $50 million in research. The organization is also the only children's cancer charity with a 100% score for Financial Health, Accountability, and Transparency.

"Every day, families face the devastating news that their child has cancer, and we want to be part of the solution," said Stanley Goodman, President and COO of Metro Diner. "Partnering with NPCF during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month gives us the chance to spread the word about this dedicated organization and provide an opportunity for guests to make a very real impact in the lives of children and families within our own communities. Whether they choose to round up their check or add a donation, every contribution moves these children closer to better treatments and brighter futures."

Known for its hearty portions and comfort food offerings including breakfast all-day and signature favorites like the famous Fried Chicken & Waffle, Iron City Meatloaf, BBQ Ribs, and Biscuits & Gravy, Metro Diner is dedicated to supporting the communities it serves. Guests visiting during the campaign can:

  • Round up their check to the nearest dollar
  • Donate $1, $3, $5, or a custom amount in-diner or online
  • Spread awareness on social media using #MetroDinerCares and #NPCF

"We are beyond grateful for the support of Metro Diner and their philanthropic partnership over the years. We are excited to bring back this campaign where their customers can easily support our mission at Metro Diner establishments around the country," said David Frazer, Chief Executive Officer, National Pediatric Cancer Foundation. "Every day, 43 children are diagnosed with some form of cancer and the need for research is more important than ever. NPCF is funding critical research to find less toxic and more target treatments for these children. Because of the generosity of our donors and dedicated partners like Metro Diner, we can continue to further our mission."

Childhood cancer research is drastically underfunded, with only 4% of federal cancer research funding dedicated to pediatric cancers. In addition, more than 95% of childhood cancer survivors experience long-term health challenges due to the harshness of current treatments — making NPCF's mission all the more urgent.
