Medline introduces Pack 360 Analysis to perioperative optimization program

New solution analyzes workflow to identify opportunities for enhanced efficiency

NORTHFIELD, Ill., Aug. 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Medline announces the latest addition to its perioperative management portfolio, Pack 360 Analysis, a program that offers in-depth analysis of workflow and supply utilization to help optimize surgical packs and procedure supplies within the surgical setting.

Choreographing multiple variable workflows in the Operating Room to ensure they are executed well at the time of a procedure remains challenging for perioperative leaders. When these processes do not go perfectly, common issues can include excess inventory, delayed procedures due to more time spent on managing supplies, and lack of clinical standardization in processes and products. All of this leads to waste, lost efficiency, and even lost revenue for healthcare systems.

The Medline Pack 360 Analysis identifies areas for improvement, examining key impacts and inefficiencies within each department (e.g., supply chain, case pick areas, operating rooms, anesthesia and turnover), and collects and analyzes data to help customers identify ways to streamline and optimize their use and purchase of Medline products and services.

"The best and most comprehensive solutions for our customers are rooted in data and a thorough understanding of their current process. We are excited to offer this program to help our customers gather data based on their unique needs so they can make better-informed decisions about resource allocations, staffing, and system improvements," said Allison Ward, vice president of product management for Medline Sterile Procedure Trays. "The Pack 360 Analysis is a one-day process in which our perioperative specialists help customers towards achieving their goals."

Key areas where perioperative leaders are implementing changes as a result of the Pack 360 Analysis include inventory reduction, case cart use and redesign, preference card management, and reconfiguring space to streamline the use of medical supplies and minimize waste.

Through the Pack 360 Analysis, Medline can identify a variety of solutions to help health systems meet their perioperative supply needs. One of those solutions is Medline's Complete Delivery System (CDS). Rhode Island-based Care New England has been benefiting from CDS to consolidate surgical supplies into one container and ultimately streamline their supply chain. In 2023, the health system began implementing Medline's CDS for orthopedic surgeries initially at Kent Hospital in Warwick, RI, and later expanding the program to Women & Infants in Providence, RI.

"We have a dedicated team to grab supplies for surgical cases based on the doctor's preference sheet. It used to take us roughly 20 minutes to pick supplies for a basic laparoscopic case," said Rico Fragata, Care New England's supply chain manager for surgical services. "CDS puts all the necessary supplies into one case, creating opportunities for less stock on shelves, as well as fewer touchpoints for nurses. Orthopedic cases take us the longest to pick, but having everything in one box has reduced picking time by nearly half and has helped save time prepping the surgical room."
