McCarthy Family Foundation Established to Support Charitable Giving

FRONT ROYAL, Virginia—Attorney Douglas McCarthy and his wife, Megan, announce the establishment of the McCarthy Family Foundation to support charitable giving in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. The foundation will fund charitable gifts to local and regional charities and nonprofits focused on helping those in need.

McCarthy is a Founding Partner of McCarthy & Akers, PLC, in Winchester, Virginia. His practice focuses on transactional law dealing with Estate Planning, Real Estate, and Corporate matters. Before founding McCarthy & Akers, PLC, Mr. McCarthy was a Partner in the Winchester, Virginia law firm of Groves and McCarthy.

He received his J.D. from the Keller School of Law at The University of Dayton, in Dayton, Ohio, where he earned honors in Taxation, Wills, and Trusts. McCarthy earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Shepherd University in Shepherdstown, West Virginia, where he majored in Political Science.

McCarthy and his wife have a long history of involvement with charities and nonprofits in the Northern Shenandoah Valley. “We have twelve children and we want to encourage them all to be very generous throughout their lives, so we established this family foundation to allow us to work together as a family to fund our charitable endeavors,” he says. “By pooling our resources as a family, we can make greater and greater impacts in the community.”
