Boutique Firm Champions Clients in High-Stakes Government Enforcement and Consumer Financial Services Litigation
WASHINGTON, Aug. 6, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Benjamin B. Klubes, former Acting General Counsel of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development and a longtime BigLaw partner, has launched Klubes Law Group (KLG). The boutique firm offers high-impact, conflict-free advocacy in high-stakes, often adversarial matters involving government enforcement and litigation.
KLG is designed for clients who need fearless, strategic representation—especially in politically charged criminal and Congressional investigations, consumer financial services regulatory disputes, and complex civil litigation where today BigLaw is hesitating.
"With many BigLaw firms declining to undertake matters that would put them at odds with the current administration, there is critical need for boutique firms that will unflinchingly represent clients against the government, and do so at cost-effective rates," said Klubes.
"Affirmatively challenging unconstitutional and illegal actions—and defending those subjected to investigations and prosecutions—requires a law firm that is free from conflicts of interest and unwilling to make concessions to the Trump Administration," Klubes added.
KLG's practice is grounded in three strategic areas:
- Defense of clients targeted by the Trump Administration, including litigation to protect rights and funding
- White collar criminal defense and Congressional investigations and hearings
- Consumer financial services enforcement and complex civil litigation defending bank and nonbank financial institutions
Klubes brings 35 years of litigation and government experience, including representation in criminal and civil trial and appellate work, grand jury and internal investigations, and Congressional hearings. He served as Managing Partner of Buckley LLP, a top consumer financial services enforcement and litigation and white-collar defense firm, and was previously a partner at Skadden.
In public service, Klubes served as HUD Acting General Counsel (2024–2025) and Principal Deputy General Counsel (2022–2024), and earlier as Assistant Independent Counsel in the In re Michael Espy investigation (1995–1997).
"I've managed lawyers in a mid-size firm and a Cabinet agency," Klubes said. "I know what it takes to effectively and efficiently represent clients—and I intend to use that experience and today's technology to deliver results, without compromise."
He said KLG's mission is to protect clients at every stage—whether that means fighting publicly or resolving matters quietly behind the scenes.
"Victory for clients is not always a courtroom triumph," Klubes noted. "More often, it is about avoiding the contentious public courtroom battle or Congressional hearing. But to achieve those results, counsel needs to have a proven record of being ready to fight and win those battles."
