Bringing together leading minds and lived experience to advance education and innovation in gastric cancer care

BOSTON, Sept. 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer (DDF) is proud to announce the Gastric Cancer Educational Symposium, presented in collaboration with Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and chaired by Dr. Samuel J. Klempner, Medical Oncologist at MGH, Associate Professor at Harvard Medical School, and Co-Chair of DDF's Scientific and Medical Advisory Board. The event will take place on Saturday, September 20, 2025, from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. EST at the Richard B. Simches Research Center in Boston, Massachusetts.

This event will unite leading researchers, clinicians, patients, and caregivers for an in-depth look at the current landscape and future of gastric cancer care. Attendees will gain access to expert-led sessions, panel discussions, and opportunities for patient engagement and education.

"This symposium will provide an important forum to discuss how far we've come in understanding and treating gastric cancer, and where we need to go next," said Dr. Klempner. "By bringing together patients, caregivers, and providers, we hope to foster a shared understanding and empower the entire community with knowledge and connection."

Topics will include updates on the latest clinical trials, innovations in surgical and non-surgical treatment options, immunotherapy and targeted therapies, advances in early detection and biomarker research, management of treatment side effects, nutrition, survivorship care planning, and addressing disparities in gastric cancer outcomes.

Registration is now open at www.DebbiesDream.org/inspire_events and is free to all attendees.

About Debbie's Dream Foundation: Curing Stomach Cancer

DDF is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to raising awareness about gastric cancer, advancing research funding, and providing international education and support to patients, families, and caregivers. DDF's ultimate goal is to make the cure for stomach cancer a reality.

DDF was founded in 2009 by Debbie Zelman after she was diagnosed with stage IV incurable gastric cancer in 2008 and given only weeks to live. Debbie is considered a pioneer by many for bringing awareness to the plight of stomach cancer patients worldwide, as well as to the lack of federal funding for stomach cancer research. She did all of this while receiving hundreds of rounds of chemo and daily oral treatments. Debbie passed away on December 23, 2017, at 50, almost a decade later. As a result of her leadership, DDF now has a Scientific and Medical Advisory Board of world-renowned doctors and ambassadors throughout the United States, Canada, Germany, and Japan. DDF strives to continue Debbie's mission to make her dream a reality. To learn more, visit www.DebbiesDream.org.
