Centex Automation CEO Todd Jones acquired Cook Machine and Tool of San Marcos, Texas in early 2026, and the company has since launched two new offerings aimed directly at woodworking and industrial manufacturers navigating the pressures of overseas supply chain disruptions and tariff exposure: CTX Industrial Tool and the Ultracut line of CNC router tools.
The acquisition of Cook Machine and Tool gave Centex Automation an established machining operation in Central Texas, providing the physical infrastructure needed to produce custom tooling domestically. From that foundation, CTX Industrial Tool was established as a dedicated brand for selling and contracting locally fabricated custom tooling made entirely in the United States by American machinists using domestic materials.
100% USA-Made Tooling Built for Supply Chain Resilience
The timing of the CTX Industrial Tool launch is directly tied to conditions that have strained procurement cycles across the woodworking and industrial manufacturing sectors. Custom edgebander tooling in particular has been subject to extended lead times and unpredictable cost increases when sourced through overseas suppliers. Because CTX Industrial Tool produces all tooling domestically, customers are not exposed to import tariffs or the logistics delays that have affected international supply chains.
The domestic production model means fabrication, quality control, and delivery are all managed within the United States. For shops running production on tight schedules, that distinction carries practical weight - a custom tool order is not held at a port or subject to duties that change between the time of ordering and the time of delivery.

Tool Life Cycle Environment: Sharpening and Recycling by Subscription
Centex Automation also announced the launch of the Tool Life Cycle Environment, a subscription program designed to manage the sharpening and recycling of tooling throughout its usable life. The program is accessible through two enrollment paths: the Centex Automation shop mobile app and on-field representative website enrollment, giving customers the option to manage their subscriptions either from the shop floor or through a direct rep relationship.
The Tool Life Cycle Environment addresses a recurring cost and operational challenge for production woodworking facilities - tracking tool condition, scheduling sharpening, and disposing of or recycling worn tooling. By centralizing those functions within a managed subscription, CTX Industrial Tool provides shops with a structured process rather than an ad hoc approach to tool maintenance.
Customers enrolled through the shop app can log and track tooling directly from their mobile devices, while field rep enrollment offers a hands-on setup process for facilities that prefer in-person guidance.
