Bensenville, ILLINOIS, Sept. 15, 2026 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- American Graphics & Signs Brings 3M™ Cooling Film to Fleets Across the Country, Cutting Cargo Heat and Extending EV Range

Chicago, IL — American Graphics & Signs (AGS), a leading provider of fleet graphics and vehicle wraps for commercial fleets nationwide, today announced it is now offering 3M™ Cooling Film, a new passive-cooling solution from 3M designed to reduce interior heat buildup in fleet, rail, and transportation vehicles. Fleet operators can now request the film through AGS's dedicated 3M Cooling Film installation page.

3M™ Cooling Film addresses a problem that has long plagued delivery, box truck, and trailer fleets operating in hot climates: cargo areas that are not air-conditioned can reach interior temperatures well above 130°F during peak summer months, straining drivers, cargo, and vehicle batteries alike. The film is applied directly to a vehicle's roof and uses a highly reflective surface to deflect more than 85% of incoming solar radiation, combined with high thermal emissivity that releases absorbed heat back into the sky. The result is passive cooling that requires no additional power source.

Why It Matters for Last-Mile and Electric Fleets

A year-long field trial conducted by 3M across 10 electric delivery vans in Phoenix, Arizona, illustrates the impact. During active delivery hours, the film reduced cargo-area temperatures by an average of 5.3°F, with reductions of up to 10.3°F during the hottest stretches of August. Because heat buildup drives additional cooling and battery demand, the same trial found the film preserved 4.6 to 8.6 miles of usable EV range per operating hour, adding roughly 23 to 43 miles of range back into a typical five-hour delivery window.

For fleets operating gas or diesel vehicles, the same passive cooling effect translates into lower cooling demand and reduced fuel consumption on day-to-day routes, along with a more comfortable cab for drivers making frequent stops.

"Heat is one of the most overlooked costs of running a fleet in the summer, whether that's driver fatigue, spoiled cargo, or lost EV range," a spokesperson for American Graphics & Signs said. "3M™ Cooling Film gives our transportation and logistics clients a way to address that heat at the source, and it installs using the same tools and workflow our team already uses for wraps and fleet graphics, so there's minimal downtime."

Built for Fleets, Backed by a 5-Year Warranty

3M™ Cooling Film is engineered for the demands of daily fleet operation. Its hard-coat surface resists dirt, chemicals, and wear from high-use urban driving, and the film is backed by a 5-year warranty. Installation uses 3M™ Comply™ and Controltac™ adhesive technologies, allowing it to go on using the same techniques and equipment already used for vehicle graphics and trailer graphics, which keeps downtime to a minimum for fleets that can't afford vehicles sitting idle.

AGS is now offering 3M™ Cooling Film as part of its broader fleet services, which include vehicle graphics and fleet wraps, design, and nationwide installation for box trucks, trailers, vans, and full fleets of mixed vehicle types.
